Team Kean posted the following on their Facebook Page.

For Immediate Release
March 24, 2015
David Mathers to leave Team Kean and move to PEI. He will be joining Team Adam Casey while Team Kean now looks to fill the void left with the departure of Mathers.

“I had a great year with four of my best friends,” said Mathers. “For personal reasons and a new curling opportunity, I will be moving to PEI and living in a place my family is from and I love - the maritimes. Thanks to Mark, Mat, Scott, and Bryan for everything and I wish them all the best. Thanks Ontario - will be in touch.”

Team Kean represented Ontario at the Brier this year, finishing with a 5-6 record. The team was comprised of Mark Kean, Mat Camm, David Mathers, Scott Howard, and Bryan Cochrane as coach. The team plans to remain intact, but begin the search for a replacement immediately.

“It caught us totally by surprise,” explained Kean. “As a team on and off the ice we had a lot of fun, so I know this would not have been an easy decision for David to make. The team supports his decision 100% because we all know that personal and work life comes before curling. I want to wish David all the best in the next chapter of his life and thank him for being such a great teammate and friend.”
Mark, Mat, Scott, and Bryan will be discussing their options over the coming weeks as the curling season winds down. Although David played second on the team Mark made it clear that they aren’t set on any one lineup. “We realize it won’t be easy to replace David. In a province like Ontario there is lots of talent, but finding the right mix for the team chemistry is the tough part. Currently we are looking for a second, but that could change depending on the options that are available to us.”
