Brazil withdraws from the USA-Brazil Challenge

The World Curling Federation allots two spots at the World Men's Curling Championship to the Americas Zone. Usually these spots are taken by Canada and the United States. However other member nations in the Americas Zone are able to challenge Canada and/or the United States for berths to the World Championships.

Since Canada is the defending world champions they received an automatic berth to the 2012 Capital One® World Men's Curling Championship. Brazil decided to challenge the United States for a berth to the 2012 World Championships. Brazil previously unsuccessfully challenged the United States in 2009 and 2010.
On January 10th the Brazilian Ice Sports Federation announced as a result of losing their coach they are withdrawing from the America's Challenge.
