{{{Name}}}

Here are the rules for the 2012 World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling. It takes place January 12th-15th in Langley, British Columbia.

Rules/Scoring

The competition format of the Continental Cup involves four disciplines within the sport, each worth a designated number of points:

Team Games (72 points)
Mixed Doubles (36 points)
Singles (32 points)
Skins Games (260 points).

The first side to score 201 points is declared the winner. Each member of the winning side receives $2,000, while the losing side members get $1,400 each from the $88,400 total purse.

Team (72 points)
Each of the 12 teams will play one game. One captain will choose a team for sheet A with the opposing captain deciding which of his teams match up best. The captains alternate selections on each sheets.

Mixed Doubles (36 points)
Each captain chooses six teams consisting of a man and a woman to throw a total of five rocks each end and a man and a woman to sweep them. One throws the first and fifth rocks while the other tosses Nos. 2-4. Games are six ends.

Singles (32 points)
Each captain picks six shooters for a sharp-shooting competition like the Ford Hot Shots event that kicks off the Canadian men's and women's championships.

Skins (260 points)
Eight-end games. Like the team format, captains will decide the team matchups. Points are awarded for a 'skin' (scoring at least two points with the hammer) or a steal (scoring one or more points without the hammer). Carry-overs occur when an end is blanked or if only a single point is scored by the team with the hammer.
