2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts - Playdown results

2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts
Over the weekend the field for the 2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts started to take shape. British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Northern Ontario, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia all had their provincial finals.

In British Columbia Karla Thompson defeated 6-Time Provincial Champion, 2-time Canadian Champion and World Champions Kelly Scott 11-3. 

In Alberta Chelsea Carey defeated Val Sweeting the 2 Time defending Provincial Champion 8-5.

In Manitoba Kerri Einarson finally won the provisional championship after being the runner up the last two years. She defeated Kristy McDonald 7-5.

In Northern Ontario Krista McCarville will make her 5th appearance at the Scotties. She previously represented Ontario. She defeated Tracy Fleury 8-4.

The biggest upset was in Ontario. Jenn Hanna defeated Rachel Homan, the top team on tour this year, 10-8. This will be Hanna's third trip to the Scotties and her first in over 10 years.

In Quebec Marie-France Larouche defeated last year's provincial champion Lauren Mann 8-5. This is Larcouche's 7th provincial championship.

In Nova Scotia Jill Brothers defeated defending champion Mary-Anne Arsenault 8-5. This will be Brothers 3th appearance at the Scotties. 

These teams join Jennifer Jones (Team Canada), Geneva Chislett (Nunavut) and Nicole Baldwin (Yukon) who all ready qualified for the Scotties. 

New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories still have to determine who will represent them. 

The Scotties take place February 20 to 28 at Revolution Place in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
